Apple Yarns In-Person Class - Fair Isle

Our Fair Isle class is designed to help you learn colorwork knitting with confidence in a warm, welcoming environment. You'll knit the Love Your Stripes Cowl or Hat — your choice — guided by an inspiring and knowledgeable instructor. The class is limited to just six students so you receive plenty of personal attention and support. You'll learn new skills, ask questions, and connect with fellow makers while working on a project you'll be proud to wear. The support doesn't stop when class ends — the Apple Yarns team is always here during open hours to help you keep moving forward.

🧶 Who this class is for: Anyone who knows how to cast on, knit, and purl in the round and wants to learn the Fair Isle (stranded colorwork) technique.

Your class includes:

• Two hours of instruction and inspiration
• Color-printed pattern for the Love Your Stripes Cowl or Hat (you choose which to knit)
• A 10% in-store discount card (valid through the end of the last class session)

Supplies needed (not included)

Please get supplies before class — classes start on time. Have your yarn wound and needles ready to go.

• 2 skeins of DK-weight yarn, 300 yds. each, wound and ready to knit with. Approved yarns are Malabrigo Arroyo and Berroco Vintage DK. Yarn not on the approved list must be approved before class — email shop@appleyarns.com with the yarn name and color.
• US #4 and #5 × 16" circular needles and #5 DPNs (DPNs needed for hat only)
• 8 stitch markers

Our Most Asked Question: Why does Apple Yarns need to approve yarn for classes?

The right yarn makes a big difference in how successful and enjoyable your project will be. Our instructors select approved yarns that work especially well for the pattern and techniques being taught. If you'd like to use a different yarn, we're happy to take a quick look — our goal is simply to help you have the best experience possible. As a bonus, when you sign up for a class you'll receive a 10% off coupon to use toward your class supplies.

Our classes are small — just six students — so everyone gets personalized attention. Our entire team is here to support you every step of the way. Stop by during open hours anytime you need help!

In-shop class policies

• Supplies are separate from class fees unless noted. Students receive a 10% discount card for in-store purchases, valid through the end of the last class.
• Please do not reference other online resources during class unless guided by the instructor.
• Minimum age for class is 14.
• Cancellations made at least 72 hours in advance receive a shop credit refund. Cancellations with less than 72 hours' notice are not eligible for shop credit. Cancel by emailing shop@appleyarns.com to ensure proper time-stamping.
• If a student misses one session of a multi-session class, a private lesson with the instructor can be scheduled for an additional fee.
• Only paying students are allowed in the classroom.
• Private lessons can be rescheduled once without an additional fee with 24 hours' notice. Cancellations 24+ hours in advance receive shop credit. No refunds for cancellations within 24 hours.
