Fall 2025 Knitting and Crochet Trends You’ll Want on Your Needles (and Hooks!)
Fall is almost here, or that's at least how it feels this weekend in Bellingham, WA. Whether you’re a knitter, crocheter, or a proud multi-crafter, Fall 2025 is bringing a gorgeous mix of texture, color, and creativity to our hooks and needles.
Chunky & Oversized ProjectsBig yarn, big stitches, big style! Oversized sweaters, chunky scarves, and mega blankets are still going strong. These projects aren’t just a fashion statement—they’re quick to work up, extra cozy, and perfect for showing off bold stitches. Check out Rozenna. Andrea is knitting the Easy Eyelet Yoke Sweater by Knitatude.
Texture PlayThis fall is about tactile stitches. Think cables, bobbles, brioche, puff stitches, and Tunisian crochet textures that make you want to reach out and touch.
The humble granny square has had a glow-up! Designers are reimagining them with unexpected shapes (hexagons, florals, geometric patterns) and contemporary color palettes. Check out Jethro by Tanis Lavallee in Loveful (this yarn is also trending, see sustainability below).
Athleisure & Functional AccessoriesFrom leg warmers to water bottle holders, functional is fashionable.
Color: Earthy Meets BoldThis year’s fall palette is a beautiful balance: think chocolate brown, pumpkin orange, and mustard yellow paired with bold pops of royal purple, chili-flake red, or grass green.
A customer introduced us to these great free patterns by Purl Soho, Prism Blanket and the Colorful Corner Blanket. We love the simplicity of the knitting and the color sense. Knit in weight of Vintage by Berroco for the great colors and washability
Slow fashion is here to stay, and fiber artists are embracing it in style. Eco-friendly yarns (like hemp, bamboo, organic cotton, and recycled fibers) are everywhere. Our favorite recycled yarn is Loveful by Sirdar, it has great stitch definition and a tweedy look.
This blog is inspired by one of our Friday morning, 9:00 a.m. PST, Facebook Live sessions. The picture is behind-the-scenes from that morning. These trends from experts are just guides. As always, knit/crochet in colors that make you feel beautiful and craft in projects that you'll finish. Andrea- Share on Facebook
