I used one skein of Magnum for a 12in form. The pattern calls for two strands held together but since I used Magnum I used only one. The project goes fast and you can embellish with your choice of additions ie: bow, ribbon, birds, holly.
The only tricky part is getting the loop in the pattern. When I bring the yarn forward I wrapped only once around my left thumb and lowered my thumb. The loops don't have to be perfect, just knit and purl very loosely.
I'm thinking a heart shaped form for Valentine's day. If done in a neutral or funky color you could change out the embellishments according to the season.
