Dyed In The Wool from Spincycle Yarns, is the product of our desire to
merge the beauty and texture of a handspun yarn with a more efficiently produced
millspun yarn. We collaborated with a nearby woman-owned fiber mill on Washington’s coast. This collaboration ensures that our yarn maintains the color artistry of our original handspun product. Because we dye the fiber before it's spun, colors meet and part ways in stunning, unique combinations; the overall effect is of a balanced, seamless whole.
100% superwash bluefaced leicester
heavy sock / sport weight
200 yards per skein
US#2-3, 7-8 sts per inch
Approx 2.6oz, 75 grams
Some skeins may have a slub or two, or a twisty little ponytail (which can always be smoothed out as you knit down a section of yarn).
What makes Dyed In The Wool different? Unlike most millspun sock yarns, which are spun and then painted or dyed afterwards, this yarn is dyed first, as fiber, before being spun. This process creates a "dyed in the wool" yarn, in which the color permeates the fiber AND in which the color repeats are unpredictable and unique. No more heinous colorpooling or "space-dyed" effects!
